Business Check-In

Hey Folks, Jesse here again.  Just wanted to pop in and talk to you guys about some minor changes happening at the business.

First of all many of you may have noticed the Hold for More option at checkout and maybe wondered what this was all about.  Essentially this option was created so that customers who have already chosen local delivery can continue to add on more stuff to their delivery without paying additional fees.  If you have already chosen the local delivery option at checkout on a previous order, you can use this option on future orders until your product is delivered. If you haven't already chose local delivery and paid the delivery fee, we will contact you before our next delivery date and either set up the delivery or ship the product via mail.  Our hold area is starting to get quite full so we will be looking to resolve some of our holds over the next few weeks and get them to you, our customers!

Secondly, we are going to be taking a different route with our Magic the Gathering pre orders.  We have been experiencing some major shortages and allocations from our supplier on our new release MTG products.  This is generally due to manufacturing issues from Wizards of the Coast.  This has put some of our pre-orders in jeopardy and we've had to make special concessions to ensure our customers are getting their full quantities.

In order to avoid this, moving forward we will no longer be doing paid pre-orders for MTG products, but instead doing an early bird system.  Once we receive word on our quantities that we will be getting shipped (usually 1-2 weeks prior to release) we will be putting up a limited amount of product at early bird pricing for customers to order.  Once those quantities are gone, the remaining incoming quantities will be put up for sale on release day at regular price.

We will also be increasing our quantities moving forward into the new releases in 2021, so hopefully we will see increased quantities of allocations as well in case there are continued shortages in the new year.

That's it for today, but stay tuned for a few more announcements over the next month as we get geared up for Black Friday and the Holiday Shopping Season!

Updates to Shipping Options & Schedule

Updates to Shipping Options & Schedule

Hey Folks!

Just wanted to update everyone on some new shipping options and schedules starting on September 1st, 2020 (might be implemented already on August 31)

As some of you may or may not know, I will be returning to my full-time job on September 1st.  This will prevent me from fulfilling our shipping schedule obligations as often as we were before.  This, coupled with a decrease in our customer's use of this service has caused us to modify our shipping options and schedule.

Shipping Schedule

We will now only be doing deliveries roughly once every 3 weeks.  These days and dates will vary based on my availability.  We will do our best to do deliveries at the very least every three weeks, but there is no guarantees.

The next tentative delivery date will be listed with delivery option at checkout, so you can have an idea of when you should see your delivery arrive.  Again, this is tentative and some factors may cause us to deliver before or after that date.  We will do our best to always adhere this date, but some factors such as weather or availability might change that.

We will update our order notifications as well to inform you of this tentative delivery date.  In addition our delivery app has been working to our knowledge, so you should also receive an e-mail notification on the day that your product is being delivered, and after it has been dropped off.

Shipping Options

Local Pick-up

Continue to use this option if your intention is to pick up your order.  If you are planning on making multiple orders before making the trek out, please still use this option, as it will help us keep all of the pickups organized in our system.

Hold for More (3 Weeks Max hold)

We will hold your products that you order in our showroom for a maximum of 3 weeks before we look to either ship them or add them to our local delivery schedule.

Flat Rate Shipping - Alberta - $15

Unfortunately due to rising carrier rates, we have had to increase our Alberta Flat Rate shipping to $15.00.  Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

No other changes have been made to shipping and delivery options.

Please contact us with any special requests or if you require further information about your order and when it might be delivered or shipped.  We will do our best to accommodate our customers in a way that is both fair to them and efficient to our business operations.

Major Business Update!

Major Business Update!

Hey folks!

It's been a very long time since we've done any blog posts on the website. Most of our correspondence with our customers has been through social media over the last few years, but we are going to try and give you more updates on the news and events here at Elements through our blog posts, and maybe potentially start our newsletter as well.  So here is our first blog post since 2016!

First of all both Julia and I would like to thank everyone who has supported Elements in 2020.  Since the start of the global COVID pandemic, many businesses have struggled and unfortunately gone out of business.  The opposite is true for Elements as we have seen our greatest success, and growth since we started the business in 2015.  Both Julia and I were working full-time jobs at the beginning of the year, but when COVID hit us here in Alberta, we both were laid off.  As unfortunate as that may seem, it was a great opportunity for us to focus on our business and put 100% of our effort behind it.

We focused on improving our internal systems and work flow, as well as upgrading our POS system to better serve our customers.  We introduced curb-side pickup as well as local delivery which was incredibly popular for our customers who were self-isolating at the on-set of the provincial lockdown.  We upgraded our facilities with new shelving and fixtures, as well as a new food & beverage section.  When it was time to open back up again, our customers were greeted with a whole new experience!

Behind the scenes as well, Elements made the leap and transitioned our business from a legal partnership to a corporation on June 2nd, 2020.  For us this was a necessary step to continue our growth into a full-time business rather than part-time.   This will allow us to pursue some more lofty goals as we finish off 2020.

Lastly, we felt that we needed an update to our brand.  Many people have become used to the logo and website that we have been using since we started, but we wanted to refresh our look and feel as we moved forward in 2020.

In July we started the process of creating a new logo with Justin Currie of Chasing Artwork.  Justin's illustration work speaks for itself, and we enjoyed working with him as he helped us realize our vision for a new logo.  With the new logo, we also wanted to freshen up the website and we have been working on that over the last month or so.  It's been a fun process to create a site that we think is visually pleasing, but also increases the ease of use, and navigation!

So that is a breakdown of our journey through 2020.  We have lots of time left and are hoping to continue to improve and bring more and more value to our customer's experience both online and in person.

August 25 is the 4th year anniversary of our original website unveiling, as well as our showroom opening back in 2016.  To celebrate we will be having some incredible sales and will be unveiling a new deal every day from August 25 - 31!  These deals will be available both online in the form of a discount code, and in person at our showroom.  Stay tuned to our social media accounts or the website for information on how you can redeem these great discounts!

Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for more news and events in 2020!
